The foreign affairs office of the municipal government in Zibo city – located in East China's Shandong province – on Sept 2 explored cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme, or UNDP.

It hosted an online discussion meeting with the UNDP resident representatives in China based in Beijing, aiming to improve its foreign affairs services and broaden new exchange channels.

The objective of the UNDP in China is to support the national government to reach internationally agreed development goals.

The UNDP representatives gave a briefing on their basic situation and sustainable development goals, as well talked about projects with various Chinese cities and parks.

For their part, Zibo foreign affairs office representatives and officials from the Zibo High-tech Industrial Development Zone talked about their city and the basic conditions and development plans of the zone and for Zibo Science City.

The two sides agreed to strengthen information exchanges and explore pragmatic cooperation, by learning from the UNDP's experiences with other cities in China.

The UNDP involvement is widely expected to boost Zibo's international profile and help build a highly developed and open city.
