A new pharmaceutical industry high-quality development conference held on Dec 16 – in Zibo city, in East China's Shandong province – attracted leading experts and academics who called for the sector to achieve higher goals.
The economic scale of the pharmaceutical industry has remained at number one spot in Shandong province for many years, with the city of Zibo home to over 180 pharmaceutical industrial enterprises.
"Zibo has established a pharmaceutical industry system that is pillared by the chemicals pharmacy and medical devices industries," said Jia Min, director of the non-public sector of the economic development center of Zibo.
From January to October in 2021, more than 80 pharmaceutical enterprises above a designated size – those with an annual turnover of 20 million yuan ($3.1 million) or more – achieved operating income of 27.6 billion yuan), as well as profits of 4.4 billion yuan, for year-on-year increases of 6 percent and 28 percent, respectively.
The conference was hosted by the Zibo industry and information technology bureau and the Institute of Regulatory Science for Medical Products at Shandong University.
