The city of Zibo – located in East China's Shandong province – saw a flurry of cultural and tourism activities onsite and online during the recent seven-day Spring Festival holiday, which started on Jan 31.
Districts and counties in Zibo hosted different special cultural events to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
Zichuan district organized cultural activities such as a New Year's general knowledge contest, Spring Festival parties, drums performances and lantern shows.
Boshan district is said to have enthralled its residents with Bashan Chinese red lantern shows – which highlighted traditional Chinese classical stories, Bashan cultural attractions and new traditional Chinese medicine culture.
In Zhoucun Ancient Commercial Town, visitors could experience folk customs such as pushing a mill, rolling iron rings, and throwing hydrangeas.
Gaoqing county presented dragon and lion dance performances in the Swan Lake International Cittaslow Scenic Area and the Anlan Bay Scenic Spot.
Snow-ice themed resorts in Zibo conjured up a slew of winter activities that were inspired by the Beijing 2022 Olympic games.
During the Spring Festival, nearly 300,000 people participated in online cultural tourism activities.
The Zibo municipal bureau of culture and tourism launched its online marketing activities and promoted the city's VR scenic museum, the Wuyin Opera and other online cultural forms.
The "Qihuiyou", or Zibo tourist card, is said to have stimulated more cultural tourism. So far, more than 43,000 people have entered the cultural parks in Zibo with the card.
