Qilu China-Europe freight trains – departing Zibo city, located in East China's Shandong province and bound for Europe and Central Asia – experienced a breakthrough in the total trips made in 2021, local authorities said on Feb 10.
The rail service put on 93 trips during the period, up 116.3 percent year-on-year.
What's more, in January this year the growth in the number of Qilu China-Europe freight trains surged 125 percent year-on-year and the number of trips are expected to total 100 by the end of the year.
The achievement has been attributed to Zibo's new comprehensive logistics industry supply chain system.
Zibo has strengthened its overall layout and links with Shandong Port Group – one of the world's leading ports operators, based in Qingdao city in Shandong – was well as with Jinan airport, highway freight stations and industrial parks. This has helped form a rail-sea, rail-air and rail-highway international multimodal transport system.
In addition, Zibo improved logistics infrastructure – covering port multimodal transport supervision, dedicated railways and containers – to improve its port clearance capacity.
