The city of Zibo, located in East China's Shandong province, on Feb 18 announced its 2022 goals – including the target for annual growth of regional GDP of 7 percent, breaking through the 700 billion yuan ($110.46 billion) band for the first time.

Breakthroughs are also projected to be made in a number of core technologies in key industries. The output value of high-tech industries is expected to account for more than 60 percent of the total industrial output value above a designated size.

In terms of regional development, Zibo is expected to become an important node linking the Yangtze River Delta and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, among areas downstream of the Yellow River.

In order to form core competitive advantages, the construction of a digital government, a digital city and a digital society is seen making further progress.

Total emissions of major pollutants are projected to decrease continuously, while Zibo strives to raise its rate of good air quality by at least five percentage points.

In terms of its culture, Zibo will continue to extend the influence of the Qi culture and further develop itself as a national historical and cultural city – as well as a benchmark city for entrepreneurship and innovation in fine traditional Chinese culture.

In addition, Zibo will launch a three-year campaign to improve people's well-being, promoting common prosperity in the whole city.
