The urban renovation project for the Zhangdian-Boshan railway – in Zibo city, in East China's Shandong province – is scheduled to break ground before the end of June and be completed in two years, according to information released at a municipal transportation works conference on Feb 28.
The railway is projected to start operating on June 1, 2024, celebrating the 120th anniversary of the original opening of Zhangdian-Boshan railway.
At that time, the fastest direct train from Zhangdian district to Boshan district will take half an hour, while normal trains will take some 40 minutes, shortening the commute between downtown and southern Zibo.
The railway will add four new stations – Nandingbei, Shuangyang, Linzinan and Baita.
