Ding Jiao, a post-90s cartoonist graduated from Shandong Vocational College of Light Industry - located in Zibo, Shandong province - was invited by the International Paralympic Committee on March 2 to create a series of themed cartoons for the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games which will be held from March 3 to 13.
Ding began preparing and collecting background information about the Winter Paralympics shortly after receiving the invitation. Ding stated that she intends to cheer on the athletes competing in the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in her own unique way through her art.
Ding, who has physical disability since she was two years old due to a spinal hemangioma, currently works at Shandong Shibo Animation Co. She made a series of comic artworks for Chinese athletes competing in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, which received a lot of positive feedback online.
