In the wake of the recent COVID-19 outbreak that hit the city of Zibo – located in East China's Shandong province – local companies have donated generously or ramped up production to offer their commitment, optimism and concern in order to win the battle against the epidemic.

As a company located in the Zhoucun district – where this round of the epidemic was first discovered – Shandong Qian Hong Estate Group Co Ltd contacted municipal government departments immediately and donated 500,000 yuan ($78,700) to the local charity federation.

On hearing Zhoucun was in short supply of protective clothing and masks, Qian Hong Group contacted a number of domestic medical supplies manufacturers and purchased protective supplies worth 50,000 yuan, which recently arrived in the district.

Elsewhere, Shandong Qidu Pharmaceutical Co Ltd – based in the Linzi district of Zibo – put together emergency plans as soon as possible to prioritize the production of anti-epidemic drugs in short supply.

Talent Medical Electronics Co Ltd is another local company in Zibo – engaged in the production of medical equipment in the field of critical care, first aid and respiratory rehabilitation. The company has decided to donate eight to 10 sets of equipment to hospitals in Zhoucun.

Meanwhile, infection control products made by a medical device manufacturer called SHINVA, whose production line is located in Zhoucun, are regarded as being important supplies.

The company has arranged for over 360 of its skilled workers to engage in 17 hours of uninterrupted production.

Furthermore, more than 50,000 hands-washing-free disinfectants have been sent to other risk areas such as Qingdao city in the province.

In addition to the medical supplies, daily necessities – such as bottled instant noodles, mineral water and fruit – arrived in the Zhangdian district on March 13.

The president of the local entrepreneurs association, Ma Zhonghua, said that in response to the outbreak it and its member units had donated materials worth more than 20,000 yuan to the district.
