One of China's five porcelain capitals – the city of Zibo in East China's Shandong province – held an online ceramics exchange meeting on March 15 with a leading ceramics center in Japan, which is expected to yield attractive commercial outcomes.
The online meeting was held with the Mie prefecture in Japan, which also has a long and distinguished history in the industry. Three Zibo ceramics businesses participated in and after discussions reached expressions of interest with Japanese counterparts to do business.
The Zibo enterprises are Shandong Industrial Ceramic Research & Design Institute Co Ltd, Zibo Huaguang Ceramics Scientific Culture Co Ltd and Shandong Guiyuan Advanced Ceramic Co Ltd (Sicer).
With ceramic associations and enterprises in China and Japan as the main topic, the activity focused on new ceramics materials, intelligent workshop and ceramics technology, as well as establishing a new platform for the two sides to have a further cooperation.
Zhao Peng, the director of the city's traditional industry development center, said the ceramics sector was Zibo's business calling card.
Zhao added that using its enduring ceramics culture to tell the Chinese story in a new light was a way to open a window of mutual understanding between Zibo and the world.
In recent years, in the wake of international tours, Zibo's ceramics have been displayed in Surrey in England, Milan in Italy and in the Louvre in Paris, France – enhancing the visibility of Zibo on the international stage.
