With a total investment of 89.51 billion yuan ($14.06 billion), the projects cover such key fields as new materials, new energy, electronics information, intelligent equipment, cultural tourism, medical care and health, modern finance and digital agriculture.

The areas of endeavor are said to be highly compatible with the direction of the city's industrial transformation and upgrading and are expected to inject new momentum into the high-quality development of Zibo.

Influential companies were among the signatories, including the Mellon Financial Group, one of the 10 largest corporations in the United States.

Mellon, which has already had operations based in Zibo, will build a transnational information interconnection platform for industrial clusters in surrounding cities, such as a European original design manufacturer and original equipment manufacturer industrial platform, as well as a China-Europe food trading platform.

The efficient local government services and rapid restart of operations after the novel coronavirus epidemic are said to have widely reassured companies about the district's commitment to business.

"In the process of promoting the project, Zhangdian provided an all-round service guarantee and our two sides finalized the cooperation content of the contract in only five days," said Zhang Chengwen, an executive director of Mellon.
