The city of Zibo – situated in East China's Shandong province – held an online meeting about funding major projects and carbon finance projects on April 23, local media reported.
At the meeting, the city's financial institutions signed a credit line worth 39 billion yuan ($5.96 billion) for 97 key projects, which will provide key support for Zibo's development.
The city implemented 500 major projects in 2021, including 152 key projects at the provincial level, ranking it first in the province.
This year Zibo has planned a total of 1,218 key projects with a total investment of 860 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 145 billion yuan.
At the April 23 meeting Zibo included 54 projects as the carbon finance ones which need funding of 6.9 billion yuan, to promote carbon trading and provide financing channels for enterprises.
"More investment will be made in financial projects related to environmental protection and we will contribute to the nation's goal of achieving peak carbon emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060," said Wang Deqing, president of the Bank of China's office in Zibo.
