Due to the public's increasing awareness of COVID-19 containment measures, short-distance tours, self-driving tours and night tours were the main choices for travelers in Zibo city – located in East China's Shandong province – over the recent Dragon Boat Festival holiday.

According to local authorities, homestays such as Niuji'an resort village, Yunhong Shanfang and Zhushui Bay, were a hit with locals. Wenchang lakeside beach also attracted tourists to set up tents.

In addition, local tourist attractions took the opportunity to launch a series of special activities. For example, the Hongye Shiyan scenic spot launched a night tour season, which sparked the enthusiasm of folks for more night tours.

Meanwhile, the 2022 Zibo Culture and Tourism Consumption Season kicked off on June 2, with the first batch of shopping coupons worth 200,000 yuan ($30,049) released to the public.

The season will host a series of themed activities covering handicrafts, the nighttime economy, local culture, reading and entertainment.

The city's 12 national A-level scenic spots will offer a price discount of no less than 50 percent for the first visit.

Moreover, libraries, cultural centers and community cultural service centers in Zibo actively staged events celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival.

More than 200 traditional cultural activities were held during the three-day holiday, including wrapping zongzi, or glutinous rice dumplings, making traditional Chinese medicine fragrant sachets, making embroidered bags and reading classical works.
