There was color, excitement and anticipation in the air as the opening ceremony of the 12th Shandong Provincial Games was held in Zibo city, in East China's Shandong province, on June 7.
Nearly 5,000 athletes from 16 cities across the province will take part in the ongoing games.
They will take place in Zibo from June to October, with sub-venues in the municipal sports center and in five districts and counties: Zhangdian, Zichuan, Zhoucun, Huantai and Gaoqing.
Group and team events in the games will cover 17 categories including shuttlecock, dragon boat races, badminton, 3-player basketball, 5-player soccer, rock climbing and Tai Chi.
