Summer is Mata Lake's busiest tourist season due to the blooming lotus flowers and dense reeds.
A tour through the reed marshes by boat is a magical experience, and visitors can enjoy a variety of lake specialties while admiring the lotus blossoms. The welcoming hosts, for example, will serve white lotus roots to visitors.
It's also worth emphasizing the city's rich culture and history. Mata Lake, which dates back to the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476BC), has drawn a slew of prominent figures, including Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai (618-907). He was enamored with the surroundings and even composed a poem there.
