A good harvest is in sight and after mangzhong, or Grain in Ear, the ninth of 24 solar terms, the seemingly endless wheat fields in Huantai county – which is administered by Zibo city, in East China's Shandong province – look like a moving golden oil painting as the summer breeze gently plays in the air.
This year, June 6 marked the day of Grain in Ear. Its arrival signifies the ripening of crops, like barley and wheat. It's also a peak period for farmers.
