Zibo-based Zhenkun International Trading Co Ltd recently became the first company in the city that is both a consignee or consignor of import and export goods and a customs broker thanks to the implementation of new customs regulations this year.

The company submitted the customs broker application through the online platform – the China international trade single window – to Zibo Customs, and completed the procedures in a mere 10 minutes.

The restriction that a customs declaration unit may not register with the customs at the same time as a consignee or consignor of import and export goods and a customs broker has been abolished. The customs units are now allowed to have both an independent customs declaration and customs declaration qualifications, according to China's new regulation on the administration of the customs, which took effect this year.

"Our company business scope mainly includes environmental protection equipment, selling building materials and freight transport, said Xu Aijun, leader of the Zhenkun International Trading Co Ltd introduced.

Xu added that the company has always planned to expand its customs brokerage business. The new regulations allow the company to acquire the two qualifications as a consignee or consignor of import and export goods and a customs broker, which helped lay a good foundation for the its future development.

To further implement the new regulations, Zibo Customs has strengthened publicity, and optimized the business handling process, as well as provided a one-stop service.

Zibo Customs has handled the filing and information changes for 607 customs declaration units online this year, helping enterprises save a total of more than 300,000 yuan ($45,000).
