The opening ceremony of Zibo city's Corner of Chinese Culture·Nishan Library was held on Aug 26 in its sister city – Russian's Novgorod – marking the 1,163rd anniversary of the founding of the latter metropolis.
The event was organized by the information office of the Zibo municipal government and during the event the city – which is located in East China's Shandong province – was introduced to those Russians attending through books on its ancient Qi culture, photo albums, brochures and videos.
A Novgorod official praised the initiative, adding that China boasted a rich cultural heritage – urging the two cities to carry out further cooperation and to strengthen their relations.
Zibo and Novgorod have maintained friendly exchanges and interactions since 1995, with the two undertaking dozens of exchanges and cooperation in various fields.
This year, the cities have strengthened their bonds even more, by using such things as video links, exchanges of publicity materials, media publicity and festivals.
