The official English website of Zibo city, in East China's Shandong province – www.zibo.gov.cn/english – was launched online on Feb 20, in order to raise the city's profile and boost its international reputation.
Created by Zibo municipal government and major national media group China Daily, the communications platform aims to showcase the dynamic city to the world.
As an international and multidimensional platform to share Zibo's stories with the rest of the world, the website will showcase the city's developments in the economy, politics and culture in the forms of text, pictures, videos, illustrations and special topics.
There are also special columns to display Zibo's Qi culture and useful information provided to help out its expats and foreign visitors.
As the birthplace of Qi culture, Zibo has a recorded history spanning over 3,000 years and is the hometown of many luminaries like Guan Zhong, a prominent politician and thinker in the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC) and legendary Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) writer Pu Songling.
In recent years, Zibo has experienced steady economic growth and continued to optimize its business environment.
The GDP of the city topped 440.26 billion yuan ($65.2 billion) in 2022, an increase of 4.7 percent compared with 2021, according to the local statistics authority on Jan 30.
In 2022, the actual use of foreign capital of the city increased by 25.8 percent year-on-year to $1.03 billion.
