The growing new pharmaceutical industry in Zibo city of East China's Shandong province has reached an industrial scale of 56 billion yuan ($7.82 billion), becoming a vital force driving the city's industrial development.
The growth rates of industrial added value, operating revenue and profit of Zibo's new pharmaceutical industry were 22.9 percent, 11.61 percent, 35.62 percent, respectively, indicating a strong development momentum.
After nearly 80 years of development, Zibo is striving to make new breakthroughs in the sector.

Founded in 1943, Xinhua Medical Instrument Co Ltd has developed the world's first peracetic acid low-temperature sterilizer, the first domestic high-energy medical electronic linear accelerator, and built the first domestic intelligent disinfection supply center.
These achievements reflect the strength of the company's industrial chain as the components produced in different sectors can achieve mutual matching.
In other news, Shandong Xinhua Pharmaceutical Co Ltd now has five industrial parks, covering pharmaceutical intermediates, raw materials, preparations, and pharmaceutical commerce.
From January to April, the company obtained six new product approvals and two clinical approvals for innovative drugs, a new record in its history, said General Manager Xu Wenhui.
As a pharmaceutical equipment manufacturer, Shandong SMA Pharmatech Co Ltd has launched a range of high-tech equipment in China. It has also focused on extending industrial chains, providing services in processes, equipment, and engineering for pharmaceutical companies.

Zibo is home to nearly 260 pharmaceutical enterprises, ranking it first in the province and 13th in the country in this area.
Looking ahead, Zibo will strive to build a platform for industrial collaborative development, and accelerate the cultivation of industries such as chemical pharmaceuticals, medical devices, traditional Chinese medicine, and biopharmaceuticals, according to the city's Bureau of Industry and Information Technology.
