The 18th Qi Culture Festival will open on Dec 10 in the Qi Heritage Museum – located in the city of Zibo, in East China's Shandong province.
The opening ceremony is expected to feature a fascinating number of events and activities, including the Guanzi Culture Academic Seminar and an art exhibition showcasing the works of masters Wu Guanzhong, Jackson Pollock and Zhao Xie.
There will also be Ren Qing's calligraphy on show – as well as porcelain and zisha teapot art exhibitions and other activities.
Zibo is the birthplace of Qi culture and the capital of the ancient Qi state, which was one of the most powerful states during the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC) and the Warring States Period (475-221 BC).
The Qi Culture Festival has been held 17 times since 2004. It has organized many activities related to Qi culture, including one held on the Jixia Academy, considered as the first government-run university in China.
There has also been another event held about cuju, a sport played in ancient China that resembles modern football and yet another about Jiang Shang, also known as Jiang Taigong, a famous sage during the Shang Dynasty (16th century-11th century BC).
Over the years, the success of the festival has seen it become a famous local cultural brand with more than 10 national honorary titles.
