Gaoqing county – administered by Zibo city in East China's Shandong province – held a launch ceremony for the Yellow River hiking and flower viewing season on April 23.
Adjacent to the Yellow River, Gaoqing county held a series of thematic activities – including an electronic film festival, an intangible cultural heritage bazaar, a cultural and tourism products trade fair and an exhibition on Yellow River culture.
It is aimed to showcase the Yellow River culture of Gaoqing and the charming spring scenery there, as well as to promote the integration of cultural and agricultural tourism.
Blessed with its ever-popular and appealing natural environment and the opportunities brought by the major national strategy for the Yellow River basin, in recent years Gaoqing has expanded its high-quality development and combined that with cultural and agricultural tourism.
At present, Gaoqing is home to two national 4A-level scenic spots and five 3A-level scenic spots, three three-star and four-star tourist hotels, six special tourist routes and some national rural tourism villages.
Since this year, the construction of cultural tourism projects along the Yellow River, the organization of various cultural tourism festivals and improvements to the infrastructure of tourist attractions has all injected new vitality into the development of Zibo's cultural tourism.
