Zhangdian district in Zibo, East China's Shandong province, has been promoting the modern and industrial development of its agriculture recently.
In Beihuang village, there are over 600 mu (40 hectares) in land used for agricultural production, as well as 48 greenhouses for vegetables and fruit planting, generating an annual collective income of over 1.3 million yuan ($189,209).
Relying on its big data platform and center, its agricultural headquarters economic industrial park, as well as its low-carbon and efficient digital sci-tech demonstration park, Zhangdian district is forming a digital agricultural industrial cluster, said Zhang Wendong, director of Zhangdian's Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau.
Located in Fangxi village, Shandong Fengliqi Agricultural Technology Development Co Ltd was founded in 2018, with a land area of 218 mu.
After adopting the internet of things technology, it can collect real-time data on farmland temperature, humidity, wind, atmosphere, and rainfall, providing it the ability to monitor crop irrigation, as well as changes in soil and air conditions, which has improved its work ability.
Furthermore, Zhangdian district has promoted the integrated development of rural businesses, such as combining suburban tours, science education, labor practices, and other carriers to develop a featured agricultural industrial belt.
