The Shandong-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Conference and the 20th China (Zibo) New Materials Technology Forum took place in Zibo in East China's Shandong province on Feb 23-24 – with the two acting as a combined platform to attract high-quality resources to the city.

A total of 36 projects were signed and more than 100 preliminary agreements were reached during the events.

"Through the conference, we see the sincerity of Zibo and see a lot of opportunities to integrate Zibo's manufacture sector with Hong Kong's advantages in information technology, digitalization and financial capital," said Zhou Weixiong, an executive of the Hong Kong IPO Alliance.

Thanks to the good business environment and services of Zibo, previous partners have already brought commercial opportunities in return.

"When I have a new idea, the first partner that comes to mind is Zibo," said Wen Xueyou, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. At the events he and his team signed an agreement on the development and industrialization of high-performance military high-temperature alloy materials.

The project is expected to solve the problem of China's long-term dependence on imports of alloy materials for gas turbines and is expected to generate an annual output value of 200 million yuan ($28.77 million).

Furthermore, Zibo is continuing to pursue the idea that innovative achievements can only maximize economic and social benefits when they are closely grafted to industry.

By accurately combining the sci-tech innovation "supply side" with Zibo enterprises on the "demand side", more and more cooperation is predicted to come to the city and to continue to spur its economic impetus.
