The municipal government of Zibo city, East China's Shandong province signed a strategic agreement with international energy supplier Shandong Energy Group Co on Dec 14 which is expected to boost the local economy.

Under the terms of the contract, the local government will coordinate the city's resources to offer attractive policies, better services and higher efficiency and help promote the company's projects.

For its part, Shandong Energy will develop new energy, new materials, high-end chemicals and information industries, taking advantage of the city's strong industrial foundations.

In the wake of the agreement, the Zichuan district of Zibo will move to boost its ties with the group's subsidiary Zibo Mining Group Co, a century old venture based there.

The two are expected to help expand the development of non-coal industries through mergers, corporate acquisitions and the establishment of industrial development funds – giving full play to the region's resource and policies advantages and the group's capital capacity.

It is understood that Zibo Mining will focus on developing industries such as green building materials, modern logistics, digital technology and zero-carbon services.
